Mech - C&C welcome
show user profile  Anamnacha
Here's a vehicle I was working on for a class. I decided to do a mech.

I should probably mention that the texture is not entirely done.

I'm not sure if that's a compliment or a critique, but I'll take it none-the-less.
Thanks, Stephen.

It's a mailbox. Just in case.

Yes it's a mail box... a mail box of DOOM.

The mailbox is going to be a metal storm gun, a la: [link] (1m into the vid).

Not bad for a start, but obvious that you are new in 3D modelling
add some more detail to your mech and take some time to improve your lighting when rendering.
Good luck :-)

loose the black background. Do a clay render. come back with pics. (see FAQ for clay)

there's a lot of basic shapes just sticking out of eachother like the two top thingies comming out of his back. They just stick out. Are they welded to the back or should they be able to move ? Even if they are welded you should see the effects of the welding process, molten metal where it is attached...

If you want to sculpt robots make sure they make sense....Actually I guess that is valid for modelling other stuff as well...except for vagina's maybe...they were never meant to make sense ;)

Presuming someone actually sits inside this thing, the screw on the back of the round rocket launcher is about 2 feet in diameter!

Hey, thanks for the critiques guys!

no I'm not new to modeling. The model is only about 1,700 triangles. Good point on the lighting though.

I thought the background was pretty loose, but I get what you're saying. I will come back with wireframe and clay renders.

that's a very good point about the top thingies (I'm assuming you mean the hinges). I didn't think about that part when painting the texture.

I can have two-foot long screws if I want to :P!
