mass fx query

I've made a bin from a cylinder, and deleted the top polygon to make it look hollow, but if something falls in there, mass fx acts as if its a solid cylinder and the objects bounce off of the deleted polygon.
How do I change this please so that objects will enter the bin

I've since remade this dustbin from a flat cylinder but with the outer ring of polygons extruded, but mass fx still thinks it is a solid unit by drawing edges across the open top, doesn't make sense

reset the Xform and collapse?.. Also does mass fx detect which way normals face? If so, you might need to flip your normals.

I believe massfx only lets you have a concave mesh if it is a static object... in the 2011 subscription pack, I was able to get this to work without a problem. I've played around a little bit with the 2012 version and could not get it to work.
