MARINA DESIGN
show user profile  rvx912
I am currently designing a marina....in 3ds max 2010. I can say i am an amateur but far away from a pro. I can get good effects however my renderings lack the REALISTIC touch. I am using mental ray rendering, using a sunlight system..however the boats in the marina lack that realistic touch. Can anyone help. I can send images..

MANY MANY THANKS

by the way, how can i upload an image in this forum.......?

cheers

"direct link, image code, anything works pretty much. "

Incorrect as you should know by now parker, how long have yoyu been a member here?

Here's your image rvx912, only the direct link in photobucket will work

cut the dof, a picture at this scale doesnt have dof unless it's a maquette.
And up the sunlight intensity, looks like a alien atmosphere storm is coming up now.

You might want to manually set a sky to use for lighting, more blueish.

First off take off the depth of field, you are making it look like a minature model by adding that effect.

Secondly, your shadows are very long suggesting early morning, evening. change the colour of the light to match that i.e. evening light is more yellow that normal daylight.

I was using an HDR sky image, instead of a mr physical sky, i ll try that again, as regards to DOF, i thought DOF is only used to make things blurier, setting a low F stop value...what does DOF does then?, i used an IES sun and BSP2: autovolume as well, i will uplod the new rendered images soon
