mapping huge surfaces

hi Folks,
I'm modelling a cave for an illustration. It is quite big ("pavement" is something like 80x30 mt).
Mapping is going bad cause I modelled the whole "pavement" in a single object (poly mod) so my photoshop-made map is too big to handle . Camera is very close to the ground so I need to show map details.
I tried a multi shader but, I mean... they're rocks and unwrapping is a bloody hell.

There's a way to do the job? Do I have to create ground surface in separated parts?
