Mapping bumps and swellings
show user profile  FX
I have a mesh that I'm deforming using affect region to resemble swelling, how would I go about mapping the bump ? I need the bump to be a different texture.

I know I could animate the map changing over time , can anyone suggest a better / different approach...top/bottom material just doesn't cut it.

thx

Volume select Modifier with box gizmo just above the top flat surface with Material Modifier above that giving it a different subobj ID. You'd want more subdivisions to keep it smooth and the edge between materials would be hard though.

cheers Nik, I knew it would be some kind of "volume" thang, I'll give it a diddle.

thx.

edit: color edge might blend it better :

Nope, transition is too harsh however you do it, cheers anyway, I'll just animate the map.

Yo FX, You can use a blend map and apply that to your new material ID. Give it a try.
