Map coordinates not exporting with FBX file
show user profile  PhantomLiving
I have had the strangest thing happen to my 3ds max program. I've always been able to export to fbx format (for my turbosquid models) with all textures / map coordinates intact, but now, out of nowhere, I'm getting error messages saying that models are missing map coordinates??? I never got this error message when exporting / testing the last 100 fbx files, so what has changed? It's like some export setting got changed in my version of 3ds max.

So I reverted back to default settings, and tried the export again, and I'm still getting the same problem (Missing Map Coordinates at render time, and missing textures in general.) I've made sure that the "Convert images to portable format" is checked during the export, but I can't think of anything else that will fix the problem. Like I said, this never happened before, I was always able to export to fbx format with all textures / map coordinates intact, and now this? Can someone please help? I would appreciate it!

I'm using Autodesk 3ds max 2009 / 32 bit.

uhm.. don't want to sound silly, but are your textures working in max? before the export?

@del3d Yes all textures are working in the max file in 3ds max. I think I found the problem ;o) I started UV mapping in a new way recently in order to preserve texture coordinates from old sketchup files, and those objects have been uv mapped with the setting "Vertex Color Channel" selected, instead of the default "Map Channel". I just did another test, and found that it was only those objects / meshes that were uv mapped with the "Vertex Color Channel" that were not exporting into fbx properly, so I think I might have answered my own question ;o) I'll know for sure after running a few more tests. If that ends up being the case then I'll delete this post. Thanks again!
