mac vs. windows
show user profile  vladdddd
Hi m8s! :)

i recently got employed.. and after working on windows for some years now, my employers decided to buy me a really fancy mac machine. the change kinda scares me since i know basic key combinations differ from one platform to another.. mb i ll get my head around this issue in a few days, or not, but what i really wanted to know are the pros an cons of working on mac rather than windows, and if it§s a change for the better :)

i was also thinking of bootcamping a windows in there, is it a good ideea? or does it maybe slow mac down?

thanks lads, looking forward to your opinions!

Bootcamp is perfectly fine I've used a mac pro for years.

I'd use a mac all the time if apps worked on in OSX

is rly sad.

they rote it 4 windoze only now are finding it rly hard to make wurk on other sistems.

surpreez.

soft/maya/c4d & others are cross platform alternatives.

This problem is targeted for addressing in future versions of Max, I've been told.

well apple market has exploded in may country in the last 2 years i d say, and i dont think this is happening only in romania.. so it would be foolish of them not to solve it.. same goes for corel which had previous versions cross platform like corel 11.. and lately decided that it's to expensive for them to continue doing so.. the result being that corel 12 13 and 14 or x4, the latest version, only work for windows... mb autodesk are choosing not to do cross platform software for the same reson..

I sometimes drink in a pub that's spitting distance from the Autodesk office in London.

Edit
Hah! didn't mean to send just that... I think my mouse hand flinched. Oh well... I was going to continue by saying "I wonder if I could start having this conversation loudly with someone else in the pub, and maybe an Autodesk employee wouldn't be too far away"

"I flew over Egypt once"

autodesk do make cross platform software, just not max (yet) because porting it is hard.

maybe they'll achieve this eventually but wouldn't hold your breath.
