Looking for a web developer
show user profile  Coxy
Ok guys, so I have an idea for a website. I am not going to blurt it out all over the forums, but I think it is a good idea and something that has not yet been done in English, so I think there is a big potential market for it. I am looking for a web developer to help me bring this idea to fruition, preferably someone I could work with in England, but as we now have the internet, as long as we can communicate, that is the most important thing.

I know that people come on here and get laughed at when asking for work for free, so I am not going to do so, but my problem is really that I need some to advise me on whether the idea I have is worth investing in. I do not know what an acceptable amount of money to pay someone for a startup is, or whether they would have enough trust in my idea to take part of the company, or want money up front. I have some money, but I am by no means in a position to cripply myself financially unless I think the idea will really sell. I am only a recently graduated student after all, but if this idea is convincing enough, I am happy to invest.

I have a business plan, a plan for marketing and ideas for this venture, but I don't have the experience to make it appear, or the knowledge of what is needed for internet traffic/servers etc.

I am prepared to put forward shares in a business if that is the best way to go with the website, or money up front if that is better if this idea is honestly a good one, but ideally if that is the case I would be looking to bring someone onto this project with me as a developer for the future.

So what I really want to know is, is there anyone here who is interested in a potential project, or is my best bet to go to an actual local web development company and pitch my idea to them for pricing?

minimize risk.

what is the absolute minimum you need to figure out if the idea has commerical potential ?

I need to figure out whether it is attractive, whether on top of the many social media sites currently online, people would put forward their time and maybe even money for some of the features on this one. I have asked a few friends/colleagues in confidence and have had positive results, but these people are not experienced.

It is no good for people you know telling you its a good idea and will sell. I need an impartial person who has experience in the field to tell me straight up whether the idea has merit and will sell or not. its difficult, I can't shout out about the idea, but the risk factor right now is not based on experience, its based on relying upon the opinions of my family/friends. I can't commit on just that.

Well, I think that money on the internet is in interaction and value is based on people being able to have things that are important to other people as well as themselves. If you want, we can chat more, my email is

not one for me - got my hands full.

sounds like you need a javascript programmer.

you can probably do the regular html/graphics work yourself.

Yeah, I have built html myself before, it will be the more complicated things I need assistence with. the real issue is I need it done quickly. As I said before to my knowledge there isn't an English version, there is an Italian version, but that is somewhat of a closed market culturally according to my Italian g/f. their site only went up last week too, so I need to do it quickly.

Well. If anyone is interested, throw me an email and we can talk. if not I will head to a local web developement company.

Thanks for helping AS.
