Another year. Still grinding away... a little personal project to get things flowing:

Unity project time.

Top-down space shooter. doesn't look like much just now but I'm a code-nooblet, and I've done everything "from scratch" in c#. WASD movement controller with toggle-able mouse look (for combat steering mode kinda thing) ie... press spacebar and your ship will follow your mouse for some tricky piloting maneouvres.... press spacebar again and your ship will just travel forwards, freeing up your mouse to twiddle with GUI elements on screen (think power modules, fuel conservation, scanners n shit), custom ship class - need to figure out how to "bolt on" additional weapon / shield / armour classes, will probably settle for some kind of inventory / equipment system... the mouselook & camera follow were tricky... math.lerp hurts my head.

Anyways, will be sinking a few hours into this as and when I have time available, progress is slow... research various ways of doing something, look into different ways of achieving it, try to implement it, debug it for days, get it to work, tick it off the list, break it in the next update... And so on and so forth :)

Next up will most likely be projectiles (lasers + missiles to start with). And maybe a stationary enemy you can blow up. AI and enemy ship movement will come a lot later!

Little update, got my Weapon class and Projectile classes up and running. Think I'm also coming a bit more to grips with object-oriented-programming...
So, if I've set everything up right I should just be able to instantiate new kinds of weapons and different projectiles with what I've implemented so far.

Will need to add some different Weapon classes for stuff like electricity that zaps nearest targets, minelayers, etc...

Next up will be GUI elements...
