Laptop hardrive... which one do i need? :s
show user profile  mrgrotey
My girlfriend's laptop's hard drive is becoming more and more corrupt so I want to replace it but am unsure of what one I need never having replaced anything in a laptop before.

The only info I really have on it is the laptop model: Toshiba Satellite L300D-18D
and the hard drive number from the device manager: wdc wd1200bevs-26usto

can any of you pc gurus point me in the right direction?

the storage size isnt important as the laptops only used for internet and word really.

Fanks :)

you'll have to take the drive out anyway to replace it, so whip it out & take a look.

it'll either be a sata drive or ide.

just get a replacement of whatever size you want of the same type. simples.

Oh right, so is it just a case of simply ide or sata and thats it?

it'll be 2.5" right? you dont need to match up cache sizes and rpm speeds and all that stuff? just the connection type?

Just verify it's SATA, which I am pretty sure it is, and order a new one off ebuyer, scan, novatech, etc.

You need a 2.5 inch drive, I'm guessing one like these:

Edit: Too slow. You don't need to match cache, size, rpm, etc.
