Kung Fury - Your thoughts?
show user profile  Sir_Manfred
So who here watched Kung Fury last night?
What did you guys think of it? :D

Me, I loved it. I haven't laughed so much while sitting alone in a long time. Felt refreshing.

I do realize that this film is so over the top that people either love it or hate it.
Where do you guys stand on it?

If you haven't seen it yet, you can watch it here:
(Unless you are in Sweden. Then you have to watch it at

I actually laughed out loud just reading the description:

It features Kung Fury, a Kung Fu renegade cop who travels back in time to kill his Nemesis, Hitler.

Definitely going to give this a watch today at some point..

I watched about 20 min and then felt like I had my fair share of it.
Its a good effort though but a bit to much for me :-)

Just watched it, really funny. I was a little worried it would be a bit of a one trick pony but it kept me entertained and laughing the whole way through. The effects and visual jokes were great too. Loved the kinda 2D fight scene towards the end with the Nazi crowd in the background.

Will be interesting to see if the can pull of a full feature length version with out the joke running a bit thin. I think the shorter length of this version works in it favour.

Beginning was pretty funny, then it started getting more silly than needed.
Pretty good effects though. And the Lamborgini was a nice 80s touch.

Terribly boring signature.

I absolutely hated it because... the opening scenes were fucking brilliant - flipping the police car with a skateboard, and shooting that guy with a portable radio, catching it mid-air, and walking off. Then him jumping off the building and shooting his Lambo to make the door open, then jumping on the roof later when it's mid flight are great too... BUT

Arcade machine coming to life, time travel, Hitler, Vikings, etc... are just shit. It could have been a tribute to Streets of Rage (the arcade game) but, instead is just a mash up of shit.

Pisses me off. Made it 15 minutes in.

I liked it! Perfect length too considering I don't think I could of sat through an hour of it! For what it is, it made me chuckle.

I liked it. But felt it was a little bit all over the place.

Almost like they had ideas and scripts and screenplays for feature length but settled for a ~30 minute condensation.

Personally I could've done without the whole died, gone to heaven, met a serpent, refused to die sequence. More hackerman and Barbarianna, less Zues. Triceracop was good and deserved a bit more screen time too.

"Almost like they had ideas and scripts and screenplays for feature length but settled for a ~30 minute condensation."

I think it was meant to be longer... I guess this was funded over kickstarter. Everyone in the office was shocked that it was only 30 minutes, ie, it was advertised on kickstarter to be a much longer movie

It was fun, obviously. But the whole tone-mapped lens aberration effect got on my nerves. Too strong IMHO. -

digs: On Kickstarter it was meant to be a 30 minute short. Full length feature film was one of the stretchgoals that weren't met.
