Keyhole
show user profile  spin doctor
Hi everyone. Im modelling a keyhole for a music video im making at college. The camera is going to go backwards through the keyhole. Im gonna place the 3D keyhole between the last frame of the indoor footage, zoom through and switch back to the real footage, alligning the model with the real hole pictured in the frame.

So far i think it looks decent but im struggling with the engraved words. Iv read a few guides that recommend the boolean operation but the photos show what happens.

Any other ideas would be great. Please try to describe in a simple way as i am new to max and unfamiliar with alot of the features, thanks.

I would just make a mask with the shape of the keyhole in photoshop and use that instead of a 3d model.

Just zoom way in on the reall footage and add the mask and add the next piece of footage behind the mask.

Unless I misread your problem there is no need for 3d here.

Well it does need a 3D model as im going through the keyhole with the camera, actually through it, so i need the inside and stuff. And thanks poopsmith for the vid.
