My last issue with the Cat Rig. RibCage twists incorrectly for some reason.
show user profile  luzarius
I want the ribcage to twist on it's own pivot, but instead it twists around a blue gizmo controller. Here is a video I made showing the problem:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rR0K49ybPWM

Here is an example of an animation I would want to make:

https://youtu.be/CL52ma-B8Hc?t=134 - Male rotating his spine/ribcage for an oblique exercise.

This is the last issue I'm having with the Cat Rig, once I figure this out I can fully commit to it's use! I'm so close! Please help guys :)

I've made some progress. That blue controller is actually the spine direction vector which can be rotated via sub-object mode when selecting a spine bone.

LINK - Editing Spines - LINK

The spine direction vector must be aligned with the curve of the spine. Read everything in the above link and it will explain.

The Spine Direction vector is a line that determines the default direction for the spine. In other words, when the spine is at rest, it should project along this vector. By default, the Spine Direction vector points along the base hub’s length axis: Z for Z axis-aligned rigs and X for X-aligned rigs. See Understanding the Bone Length Axis.

You will get better results if you ensure that the blue line runs close to default curvature of the spine.
Tip: When creating a curved spine, edit the individual spine bones into position, leaving the hubs (ribcage and pelvis) aligned vertically, instead of rotating the hubs to create the curve.

If your spine direction vector is rotated out of whack from your default t pose, then you need to rotate it back into position.

1. Enter sub object mode for the spine bone (I used spine1 the bottom most spine bone)
2. Rotate it back so the spine direction vector is at the top of your top most spine (in my case my top most spine is spine3)
3. Exit subobject mode.
4. Now move your ribcage back into it's original position. Use the top, left and front camera views to align it correctly.

Hope this helps anyone who had this problem.

Wait, why are you skinning the ribcage? Never skin ribs. Ever.

Remove the skin membrane before putting them in your smoker, for a better eating experience.

I'm leaving the ribcage controller out of the skinning process. I only skin to the spine1, spine2 and spine3 bone. I use the ribcage only to move and rotate the spine around and set keyframes.

See, Nik, Krause finds anorexic girls hot too.

Best thing about dating an anorexic, you don't have to spend money buying them food. #winning
