Is my machine fit to run 3ds max?
show user profile  LOL500
I`m kind of worried because 3ds max took a long time to start up and render.
My computer have the following specs:

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 ( 2.66 Ghz )
2048MB DDR2 Ram
1GB ATI Radeon HD5670
32-bit Windows 7 Ultimate

1 more thing, does using vray proxies speed up rendering?

Thank you

Its been a while since i saw a system with less than 4Gb of ram. You might want to add some memory there.

It will run, but it will be quite limited in how much you can throw at it.

Suggest new computer, 64bit.

Back in the days I used a 120MHz Pentium processor with 8 MB of RAM.
And it could run Max just fine! A bit slow. And it was Max R2.

Nah your fine!! I'm running 3Ds max design 2012 on:

1.6 Ghz dual core > overclocked to 1.76 Ghz
2 GB RAM 667 mhz DDR 2
Geforce 8600 GT wich is a 512 mb card and I'm running on 2 screens 1280x1024 each
32-bit Windows 7 ultimate

I opened a model with 2.2 million poly's and switched from realistic rendering in the viewport to shaded and it ran at about 25 fps... just set your anti aliasing, shadow, refraction and reflection accurasy's to low and you will triple your rendering speed
