iPod Dock products...
show user profile  Jimrod
Hi Guys,

I'd like to say a big thank-you to those that helped me out with my noobish questions over the last few weeks! I've now come up with some iPod dock concepts for my company (I'm not technically a designer, more a marketing man who was fed up with poor concepts from agencies so decided to do it myself!). I've still got a lot to learn but definitely improving.

I obviously only modelled the iPhone for basic shape and size, no buttons etc.

Let me know what you think!

lookin good man, nice renders, clean texturing but I think the lighting might be on the dim side in some of these. The first and last concepts seem the most original/unique to me. I like the amp a lot. The UFO and dome versions just seem like things that are already out there. Can you try a pyramid?? Haha, wonder what that would look like

Cheers Beezy,

Yeah, the lighting did seem to vary a little, something to look at! I'm still in the process of the designs so will try a pyramid! I notice on the Dome one now the floor below the phone isn't raised (3DS crashed while I was working on that area so I think I lost it) so I'll fix that. Also I haven't quite mastered the UV Unwrap yet so my leather texture on the "Retro" design at the bottom needs a little work.

Thanks for the input! :)

Looking really nice.. The halfcircle design with the blue line around it, i`d go for a darker grey rather than white/silver to accentuate the blue line more, although wouldn`t quite be in keeping with the rest of the designs..

Cheers dude,

My mate pointed out that I had the volume control the wrong side on the Retro looking design - well I'm left-handed, it's those pesky right-handers who are wrong! :)

Hmmm, they all look really chunky. Possibility of designing a slim version?

Possibly - however we are a loudspeaker company first and foremost so I have to make sure there is enough space for the drivers to perform well. I should investigate some alternate forms though which could do this in more inventive ways! Cheers!
