Introducing myself
show user profile  van_yo
Hello everyone , I am new here, so first,I want to introduce myself .
I am second year in college, and my major is achitecture.I started playing with max back in 2000 when at that time the good new 3.1 version was kicking around the globe like crazy. Since that,it was always more like a hobby for me,rather than a way of living. I don't want this to sound like a spam or something, but I need your support.
I submit my last work in a contest for a scholarship, and it turned out to be something more difficile than I expected.I guess because this is my first time doing something like this, and the fact that voters must have registration. My concept was to express ideas by using symbolism. That is explained more detailed in the description of my entry.
To be able to bring my work to the jury, I need to collect enough votes. That doesn't mean that I want everyone here to vote for my work. No.I thought it would be a good opportunity, if I share my work with others from the branch, who could appreciate it, or give their critique, and maybe few would have the will to help a stranger. But hey, remember! Every vote counts! So just check it out,and don't take life too serious!let me know what you think.I know it could be way better , but didn't have much time.
Here is the link:http://fastweb15years.com/entries/3791

And I hope you won't hate me too much ;) Cheers !

I don't see 15 bars of gold.

And I don't see paragraphs in your post.

Grotey made a nice gold material a long time ago:

Terribly boring signature.

That material looks like brand new. I was looking for something that shows age.

You should start by getting the clean base shading (the BRDF) right. mrgrotey's material seems nice. Neil Blevins also has some pointers on the subject:http://neilblevins.com/cg_education/gold/gold.htm
.

The age/weathering comes from mapping the different parameters of the material (colour, reflection gain/sharpness, bump etc), to add scratches, dirt, grease, smudges and so on..

Dan, thanks for your reply.
I don't know how noticable is that, but I did use some mapping Tthank you for the advice though.
