intresting Maxforums Idea
show user profile  momin
I had an intresting Idea for maxforums that may actually generate money (for maxforums). Plus it would help people out. I have a friend who is learing Max, and when he needs help rather than just asking me, he asks me to remote into his machine (via logmein rescue). So once i have control of his desktop temporarily, i can help him with whatever issue there is (if i know how).

just an idea, but some of the more senior people (who have time ofcourse) could maybe offer some service like this but for a small paypal fee maybe, to help newbies. this is just a fly on the wall idea, but thought i would share it. I would benifit from some experts on here for sure (if they ever had time). anyway, what do you all think?

Sounds abit risky, For the people asking for help anyway. We advertise as "you give us money and well take control of your computer" bascially. Its alright when theres trust, like with you and your friend.

the way logmein works is that the user can see what the technician is doing at all times. and they can disconnect from the tech if they choose to by a button. i understand what you mean about trust, but it is a controlled remoting in. the only other issue i can imagine is the speed of the connection. that would maek a diffrence in how well it works also.

"getting paid to press "X" doesn't sound too bad . "

especially as they wont know its that simple and you could go through the settings at lightning speed doing nothing at all and charge them for half and hours work when you know it was just one button!

lol mrgrotey, im sure none of the more experienced people here are like that (yourself included). i could be completely wrong however!!

[edit]

Also, from a business point of view to cheat people in that way is counter productive. eg imagine if a fairly competant max user asks for help, and he knows his way around max, but doesnt know one specific thing, then he witnesses the technician doing irrelivant things, he will straight away know the guy is having a laugh. word of mouth will spread and no one will use it again. so from a business point of view also, its illogical for the max experts to do things like that.

It would likely have to be a voluntary donation to the forums if the person solved your problem. Say a buck or two only, but the sky is the limit and up to the person getting the help.
