Ummm ... spoon, I tried dropping an iframe to link directly to the article.
It works, but feks up the layout hiding subsequent posts.
I had to go into the html source to pull out the edit link so I could disable it :)
The simple solution is to ban iframes, but that's no fun ... any chance of fixing it ?

Simple html to control a bit of layout is allowed, an iframe is not.

That's a shame. Direct linking is useful.

We could ask Jesse to ask them at GDC :)

So, they act like this is only for servers, I don't see any reason not to put one in my new build this summer....

Figure out the floating point performance first.
Regular servers don't generally need high fp performance, you do.

I've always used serverboard workstations, only downside is the expensive components.

I am considering getting the new Gulftown CPU (hexa-core, 12 logical) but I gotta admit, two of these babies on a dual CPU socket motherboard ... aw, man ! :D For a second I was thinking even of a quad-CPU slot MB, but then I realized that at full capacity it would probably eat more current than a welding machine, lol.
64 logical cores on one machine does sound really sweet tho ...

I thought my i7 had eight cores. Or did it have two quad cores? What's the dif?

these are the family of chips that the mac pros have. As well as the high end HP's and Dells.
They make great albeit expensive workstations.
Joey, you probably have a quad core i7 with hyper threading which will show you 8 threads.

Wow, great stuff, a bit sad for me right now since I'm pretty close to 2 quads to put on my server board, which I have been waiting for several months, this here is a slap in my face :/
I wonder what kind of pricing they'll be talking, depending on that and how fast gpu rendering comes available I might just stick to my 2 quads and stop dreaming about processors...
