installing max on another machine
show user profile  zeefusion

can you install an already purchased copy of 3D studio max on to another machine out side of the work place that it was purchased for. ie could I instal a copy at home with out being shot by Autodesk.

more to the point can i install the 30 day trial with that same disc at home as well as installing it at work. But at work use the serial number given and home just leave it as 30 day trial?

is it only the serial number that holds license information or is it the disc also. so if i were to instal the 30 day trial at home would there be any reference or record of where the disc should be installed ie at work?

The disks are not individually customized to know the serial number. The install files are all identical on the disks.

Autodesk allows installation on two PC's if you don't use them at same time. I asked them about this few years back when I had problems exporting the license between PC and Laptop.

I'm not sure if they have changed their policy, so it might be worth to check with them first.

I don't think it matters with the trial install.

Subscription users can get home use licenses. Here is some of the info from Autodesk's site:

Autodesk Subscription customers can now request home use licenses for their employees. Home use licenses are governed by an Ancillary Service Agreement for Home Use.

A home use license is a stand-alone license based on a primary license. The primary license can be either a stand-alone or network license. A home use license based on a stand-alone primary license will have the same serial number as the primary license. A home use license based on a network primary license will have a different serial number, which you must obtain from Autodesk.

I couldn't find any mention of cost just that the subscription owner/controller has to request a home use license and that this ability is a one of the benefits of being a subscription member.

here it mentions that i can instal the same copy i have at work at home with same serial number if i am a subcription member.

its not clear though if i have to do license transfers or could i use home pc and work pc at the same time ie if some one wanted to use work pc whilst i was at home.
