Ini File Cloning
show user profile  Steel
Hi i hope one of you can help me. I need some help backing up/copying files from one location to multiple PC's. I think the way to go about this would be a batch file but have no experience in this field and am struggling to get to pick it up quickly.

Basicly all I need to do is copy the Max ini & possible some other files to multiple PC on the netrender. So What I need is it to copy "C:\Documents and Settings\GSteel\Local Settings\Application Data\Autodesk\3dsMAX\2008 - 32bit\enu\max.ini" to the same location on other PC's. We tend to use UNC paths for PC naming so my PC is EC-78 and the target machines would be EC-88,EC-89, on so on.

I'm sure this is a piece of cake for someone with the know-how but for me it's a total C*$t. I would really appreciate someones help with this as it is doing my head to change every machine almost daily. Thanks in advance.

Okay, so i've bben able to get started on this with a test and managed to transfer some files from my C drive root to another drive but i can't seem to get it to work any deeper in. I think i have narrowed it down to folders with spaces in the name.

Does anyone know if this is correct and if so how to get round it? PLEASE

Sorry, wasted everyones time i've done it.

Xcopy /v /y "C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Application Data\Autodesk\3dsmax\2009 - 32bit\enu\3dsmax.ini" d:\temp

Now when I get back to work I'll try and see if i can get it to work on a netwok drive.
