In What Ways Can I model This?
show user profile  ffcfoo
So I have this unique type of object.

I have the shape all traced out with the line tool.

How could I possible make this shape Cylindrical?

I tried doing half shape like most shapes like this:

Then using the Lathe to make it Cylindrical.

But that is not the shape I want, it doesn't curve, it just stand straight up and down aligned.

I need it to lean and be cylindrical, I tried Extrude also but I can't seem to get it to extrude in a cylinder, only in straight lines.

Could someone shine some light on how I could do this? Thanks!

You could model or lathe it straight and then deform it with an FFD modifier to match your reference.

I thought of that, but I thought there was a more simplistic way of doing it. I would have to totally reform the top once I lathed it.

Well, Garp is right. FFD is a good route. Or, you can simply extrude model a cylinder. I got this after only 3 minutes. I bevel modeled from a cylinder, and just used FFD cylinder modifier to tweak it a bit.

yea, simplest way is probably to just make a cylinder, then scale and move rows of vertexes/edges/polygons to get your shape. Then delete the top and extrude it for thickness. mesh smooth it :)

Spline -> loft with circle -> add and tweak points in Scale Deformation.

edit: wish I could turn that Scale Deformation window 90° clockwise :/
