Importing 3ds files to preserve file paths?
show user profile  mehdib
Hey-
I'm trying to import some houses -- in .3DS format -- I got from archive3d.net and although they come with materials (either .bmp or .jpeg) they do not appear on the house when I import them. I have to specify where I want each material -- in other words, the file path is not properly configured.

Is this an import setting problem or should I face the fact that I just gotta paint all the surfaces (I'm planning to do many houses)??
I was wondering if the problem was due to the transfer between 3ds Max Design and 3ds Max (assuming the files were originally created in 3ds Max Design) but then I tried importing it in Design and it still was not properly configured..

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

the file was not exported with relative paths so you have to set the paths manually again.
thats my best guess.

Hello there
