import obj and mtl problem
I just created a new obj with texture in 3dsmax 2010 (lets call this File A) and I want to place that obj with its textures into another 3dsmax 2010 file (lets call this File B). So far I've only been able to do so with the obj file but no luck with the mtl. How can i import the mtl file into File B?

you type the name of the .mat in bottom right of the import window. But if you're making it in max, save it as .max and use merge, not import.

I tried merging, but the textures are lost in the process :(
Here is what I am doing,
File A has the textured mapped obj
File B has an environment
I dragged the File A into File B, only the obj appears in the scene, no texture

This sounds strange. I'm not sure what you mean by "file B has an enviroment" upload both maxfiles somwhere, and we'll help you. or try fbx, or some other format.

Rather than just dragging A into B, use the 'merge' function under 'file' in the main toolbar to merge the 2 scene files... which is what Amish bob actually said already.
