Huge Group - Cant select without crashing. Any ideas?
Some bright spark decided to group several thousand objects in a max scene and then send it to me for rendering. I need to make some changes to the geometry but i cant select the group without max crashing out. I have a ridiculously powerful machine but it just cant handle selecting that many objects.
Has anyone got any ideas how i can ungroup it without selecting it first?

If you know the group's name - say, TheGroup -, try typing
in the listener.

Or maybe merge the grouped object into a fresh scene, ungroup....? then re-merge them back into original scene.

I've never dug into the listener, nor scripting, so I've had to figure out my own ways of doing things without those. Most of the time they work, and after 20 years, I've not found many problems I can't solve.
