Hello everyone, I m pretty new to 3Ds max, as I will start soon the animation school program, I am already a web/graphic designer, and well I will like to buy a laptop as I move constantly for my type of work. But I want to work 3ds max on the laptop, so far the best I found was del M90 precision, but is really expensive, around 2800$...
on ebay i found this:

HP Pavilion dv9700t Gaming Laptop 2.5GHz BLU-RAY
4G Ram, nvidia 8600GS, selling it new for 1500$

Honestly I will like to know if its really worth to invest 1300$ more for a dell precision m90 with this configuration:

PROCESSOR Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T9300 (2.50GHz) 6M L2 Cache, 800MHz Dual Core edit

SCREEN 17 inch Wide Screen WXGA+ LCD Panel edit
MEMORY 2.0GB, DDR2-667 SDRAM, 2 DIMMS edit
HARD DRIVE 80GB Hard Drive, 9.5MM, 5400RPM edit
OPTICAL DRIVE FREE 8X CD/DVD Burner (DVD+/-RW) - $120 Value edit
BATTERY OPTIONS 9 Cell Primary Battery edit

WIRELESS CARDS Intel® 3945 802.11a/g Dual-Band Mini Card edit
TOUCHPAD OPTIONS Standard Touchpad edit
GRAPHICS CARD NVIDIA® Quadro FX 1600M 512MB TurboCache™

or if the hp will do the job (considering that the m90 has 2g ram and the hp 4g ram) Thanks to all answers!!!

I'd say you dont want 80GB, you want more, and you'd want 7200RPM.

Processor looks good.

You dont need Blue Ray

Dont know much about laptop video cards but 512MB is good if it isnt shared.

Adding RAM is really easy and cheap, so adding 2GB won't be tough.

Blue ray would be awesome in a laptop for watching movies.

I'm sure it would be nice if the actual keys weren't inside of it :P
Sorry, no constructive help from me this early....
