How to open up a double helix
show user profile  dr.qamarahmad
Hey everyone,

Ive been working on a science project dealing with DNA. I was able to get a very nice copy of ready-made DNA model from turbosquid. But the problem is that after the animation of the double helix is complete, I want the helix to split open and become a straight ladder. The whole object is complied into a single group and Ive been trying to do something so as to unskew the helix and make it a straight ladder. Do you guys know how to do this? Please let me know.

Thanks

I may have already done a tutorial for this when someone else asked the same thing (or very close to the same thing. Check this thread:

I missed that tutorial. Amazing thinking man. So simple, you "only" need to come up with it.

But thanks a ton for the information. I really appreciate it. You are helping tons of people with your tutorial. Keep up the good work!

I will look into the tutorial and try the method. Hoepfully, it will work. Ill post back with the results but cant promise when.
