| How To Make Coiled Up Wire |
Stephen R. |
Hey guys. I can't seem to come up with a way to make this and have it look decent.
I need to make wound up copper wire, like what you would see on an electro-magnetic motor.
Can anyone show me a method on how to do this?

Make one ring, duplicate it to create a row of them, then randomise the position and angles so they look like the image?

As Nik said =) To randomize you could select all the wires, and add a ripple modifyer. Tune down the wavelength and play around with the amplitudes.

I hate starting new threads, so I'll just ask here.
Im obviously having to work on quite a small scale for this project (down to about .5mm), and I am running into a lot of Z-Depth issues. Is there a way to fix this, or should I just scale the whole model up x10 and multiply all my dimensions by ten or something?
I'm using calipers to find the dimensions and up until now Ive just been plugging them in. But with the Z-Depth issues, it makes it very hard to work, as I work in perspective view A LOT

depends what your using this for. The best thing about 3D is you dont hold it your hand, unless thats the outcome you desire. Does the 'actual' size matter? cant you just model it however large you want, then scale it back down if you need?
Alternatively if your just going to use this in a montage of some sort, cant you just render it (even if the model was 10x10meters in max) when you put it in photoshop you have complete size control... or maybe i completely missed what your talking about.

Yah it IDEALLY needs to be modelled to exact scale. I figure I'll just scale it back down when Im done.

scale it back down? I dont understand. YOu know you can zoom in if it's too small ^^ hehe
Z-Depth? Whats the problem there?

He just wanted a little thanks for helping you get a result to your question instead of replying with another question.

I didn't realise you were Autistic. That explains why you don't thank people who help you. Not a problem.
