How to know if am getting all the broadband?
show user profile  albongino
Guys,

sometimes I wonder if Iam getting all the speed they say I am getting on my cable connection, its like sometimes I feel it "slow"

is there an application that can monitor the actual broadband speed Iam getting? or am I so stupid that can't find it on windows control panel?

I use thishttp://www.dumeter.com/
all the time.
The display is always up on my 2nd monitor to let me know the status of the connection at a glance. Incredibly useful. It also gathers connection usage statistics over days/weeks/months.

Well, one of those above was not in English and another required registration. Here's one I found with Mr. Google. He's so smart!

search terms: bandwidth speed test .

Pull as much wire out of the wall as you can.
Remvoe the non-conductive rubber sheathing from the wires with a knife or wire stripper tool.
Lick the bear wires.

The farther the current throw you on your butt the more broadband yu are getting.
Either that, or you pulled out the hydro wires by mistake.

I work for an ISP here in australia, so I dont know if this applies overseas as well, but with cable, your connection speed is dependant on the traffic. The more people connected near your, the slower your speed will go. With ADSL though, it is not affected to the same degree. Remember that your ISP can only control the traffic from IT to YOU, not your surfing/gaming of third party sites. Download something from their homepage/ftp site, and see what the rate is there. If its good, it may be an external problem. If its bad, it may be network card drivers/trojan/bad physical connection etc etc. contact your ISP for details :D
