How long is a rope?

That question holds just about as much merit as your question.

What kind of water? Are you creating a body of water, a puddle, water in a glass, splashing water, running water and so forth, and so on?

heres a decent water/ocean plugin i found a little while ago..
http://charles.hollemeersch.net/Projects/24/oceanwaves

it allows you to control wave strength, and wind speed and other things, and using the architectural water material, and adding the ocean (lume) shader to the diffuse map, turned out pretty decent. i tried using the arch&design water material, but it was to dark and i couldnt get it to get much lighter for some reason? i have max 2008 and this works for it, even though to link says it works up to max 9...
