How do I do this without multiple edges?

Basically I'm creating a level for a game in 3ds Max. The first part of it is a tower, consisting of basically a tube with a torus attached around it. I've connected everything as properly as I could, eliminating every STL error except for multiple edge. There are 344 errors. The player needs to be able to walk through both the tube part of the tower AND inside of the torus part. Which means I can't delete any more faces then I have. How would I fix these errors then? Any help is appreciated. I've been at 3d design a year but I'm still fairly new at it. Thanks in advance.

Yes, please post pictures, because in my dirty mind when you describe a tower with a torus around it, it probably looks completely different than what you've got. Is there a tube of lube standing next to it?

Never mind, I figured out a fix, although it will definitely add several days to the project. @graphix72, nope it's nothing like that anyway. Imagine the Seattle Space Needle but upside down.

If a fix to eliminate STL Check errors adds several days to your project, it's not a good fix.
But that's your call :)

I'm almost certain there's a simpler way to get what you want, in minutes... not days. Post up a picture of what you're aiming for.
