The part above the right window is wrong, i imagine you used CAD drawings for this? I think the bit that comes out over the top, the darker grey in your visual is the lead flashing, its going to be flat on the brickwork. Stick some lead on the chimney and the roof above the door too.

The guttering I imagine goes round the front part along the roof, and another downpipe would be needed on that side. (ill mark it up on a image so you can see what i mean.)

The grass/window reflections could do with some work, but they are hard to master.

Number plate text too small

Alright me olde mucker. Looks good, you got some freelance stuff going on too then now?

Plants and grass look very cg to me.

Grass too long.

Get rid of tree in foreground, PhotoShop a real one in.

I'd change the hedge model too. One of the latest evermotion packs has nice hedges. It should be on network at work.

Maybe fill out the interior a bit more, house looks empty apart from the xmas tree.

Looks great though mate, good work.

Oh, where's the snow???

Thanks for the comments. You are right about the lead flashing on the lower right window, my bad. I will correct and repost with the other lead flashing installations aswell.
I appreciate the mark up you did to show other areas of improvements.. always better to follow visual direction then second guess on comments lol


Alrite bro, hows things? This is just a personal project.
I wasn't sure on the grass when i made it. Am using Forest pack but cannot get the grass short enough without loosing the density. I believe it may be due to the preset clump size.
I have found the hedge model you are referring to in Evermotion, I will change it.
I will also try adding more the interior of the visual aswell...

With regard to snow.. I am still planning on completing an image with it, probably as a duplicate of this, but I was not happy with some of the details.
It seemed great at making small details (on gates and fences) but on the flatter surfaces like the roofs and road, it seemed to struggle to create a nice effect..

Are you using an HDRI image for lighting? If not, I suggest this could improve the scene by giving you more realistic lighting (and reflections in the windows).

Hi, yeah I am using an HDRI for lighting, but the sun is not very strong in it.
I had to add a VraySun to get more direct light.

Would you suggest i try using another HDRI to get more realistic lighting ?

I checked my Materials last night and the reflection settings were quite low on the glass.
I upped them and the reflections seemed better but you seem to loose the ability to see inside the house.
Would it be better to have a greater external reflection on the glass than to see inside the house?

solar panels jump out immediately
the lamp-post needs proper materials (or looks as thought it only has standards)
the sky looks too washed out and bright in comparison to the 3D building/rendered part which clashes with the building to the left.
scaling on the brick texture seems too small - also, bump/displace - tiles + bricks etc all look extremely flat (esp. the right edge of the roof)
the metal/lead cladding around the downstairs window looks wrong.
perspective view with the fence clashes with a few lines (compositionally)

by no means my area of expertise, just lending an eyeball to a render.

Too much exposure and contrast. It's flattening the colour balance and levelling.

That, and all the other general technicalities mentioned.

I think the main thing that bothers me is that the sky colour and level of brightness looks like a sunset time of day. Yet the lighting seems very diffuse and with reasonably short shadows, suggesting that the sun is actually quite high in the sky - i.e. midday. This results in a very confusing combination of lighting parameters.
