The end part is very impressive. Walking around your 3D model is pretty epic.

Odd that the hand movements don't match what the little model on the desk is doing though. Either some weird lag or man behind stage doing the action.

@Nik Clark Well, the whole video is lagging, look at their lips when they speak.

Congrats, you found my signature.

I'm not sure this will catch on. At first glance it looks cool, but I foresee people eventually not giving a fuck about using it since it, technically, is no different to modelling old-school, it's just a shiny wrapper.

stuff on table- cool but not useful- no-one's going to wear a headset all the time while working on a monitor just so they can occasionally turn and see it on a table
stuff on the bike irl- probably very useful depending on resolution, polygonal density and rendering quality as long as there is some kind of meaningful interactivity that can happen as you stand there looking at the bike/ whatever
this is just another way to see the results- maybe a better one, maybe a worse one- but it's not improving the software we use and pay for in any way
would rather they invest the money they're making back into the software rather than exploring avenues that are more than likely purely designed to please investors

The Holo Lense tech is cool but I would def not say its the future. Maybe a more Augmented Reality in general will change things but Holograms are soon to be an everyday reality as well(huge progress being made), making glasses or goggles cumbersome, expensive and less likely to be adopted in my opinion. Think advertising, elderly, medical, travel all areas where great efforts are made to reduce time and learning curves associated with new tech.

This is a beefed up AR Layer over Maya. The Holo Lense spacial awareness is great for group studies and interaction but you can achieve this with much less sophisticated hardware and similar results today.

It's all very... meh.

Call me when he starts to disassemble the bike into a hundred different component parts using just his finger tips. Then builds some more bikes, just for fun. All on his desktop. No computer screen at all.

We can't expect this sort of stuff to be everything we ever want right out of the gate. There's some obvious potential for greatness here.
