"You know that cracked copy of Maya you have from 2008? Well it's time to chuck it."

One quick question: Why? The cracked one is still cheaper.

Ive have been out of the loop for a while, regarding 3dMax subscriptions.. But is there a good reason this is not also done for 3dMax at the same time ?

Terribly boring signature.

I love how that page is replete with 'lifestyle' type stock photos.. Guitar on beach, sand between your toes, xbox gaming, even a music concert, it's all there..

"You will need to connect to the Internet every 14 days to verify your license".

I don't like this.

The way adobe do it, afaik is similar. I noticed when testing the Octane VR demo though, as soon as my internet connection went down ( it happens occasionally ) i was locked out of the app completely. Not sure if that was for the demo only but it could be potentially really bad..

In a few years, we'll be happily building our programs from the Fabric Engine for a small fraction of the current price.
Fuck those software companies.

^ this. I have been watching FE for a bit and would like to know where its headed. What is the go, will this be a fully featured software package built on multicore and gpu or will it only ever be a plugin to do more computational stuff?

Fucking lost it at the stock photography.

I swear the AutoDesk marketting team is led by a troupe of shit flinging retarded howler monkeys. They're paid exclusively in golden bananas - paid for by the milky tears of clients, extracted by quadruple-chinned, lard bucket shareholders.

Don't get me started on their Development team.

edit:

And I fucking love how they're selling the fact that we can now "incorporate the cost of our software into our bids".

My clients will just love it when I tack on $$$ because I use a certain software package. Oh yeah? Three months full time work, this is my hourly rate. Oh, and this large number here? That's to pay for my software. To do the work for you. I know, right? Ridiculous isn't it.

@donvella: I'll know more in a few weeks. I've just started studying it.
For now, I see their standalone as a micro DCC that can be extended in just about any possible way. It seems that new content is added by both the FE team and the FE community on a regular basis. Given the appropriate modules, it could become anything.

edit: @Manny

What is Fabric Engine 2? from Fabric Engine on Vimeo.
