Hierarchy Panel is blank? (max 2011)
show user profile  Rogahar
Hi guys, I'm hoping someone here can help me. I'm trying to adjust a set of planes so they're properly aligned to the camera throughout a certain shot using the Orientation animation constraint, and to do that I need to adjust the pivots of said planes to match the world pivot so they line up the way I want them to, and not at an odd angle.
There's a small problem though - when I select the planes, or infact any other object in the scene, the Hierarchy panel on the right-hand side of the screen is blank. The buttons for Pivot, IK and Link Info are there but I can't select any of them no matter what I do. I've checked and the same problem persists throughout any other 3DS max file on my computer, when only this morning I was quite happily using those same menus.
I'm guessing I hit a hotkey or something and locked them/turned them off/did something else spacky but I can't find out how to reverse the change. Any help? (Screenshot attached for clarity)

Character contained in the screenshot is taken from World of Warcraft by Blizzard Entertainment and I claim no copyright or ownership of it beyond fair use.

Bumping this, because it's weird.

One thing I'd try before resorting to anything drastic, would be to restart your PC. I know... I know, the "off and on again" trick, but it's worth at-least trying.

Try this in the listener:
resumeEditing which:#hierarchy

suspendEditing which:#hierarchy
does set the UI in the state you're having. I don't see how you got there accidentally though, as there doesn't seem to be a default shortcut for this command. Did you run any script?

I didn't mean to do so, and I'm pretty sure script is something you need to run intentionally. However, resetting the .ini fixed it :)
