Heres how id do it.

1. create a sphere with segments divisable by 3 (I used 30 segments)

2. Convert to an editable poly and remove every other edge at the top and bottom where they converge to a point, this help the smoothing modifier work better later on.

3. select exactly one third of the faces

4. Add a Bevel modifier or use the bevel command in the editable poly modifiy list to bevel the faces to desired height and angle.

5. repeat for the other 2 sections.

6. add a twist modifier

7. add a meshsmooth modifier

Heheheh, yeah I'm kidding :) But I have been reading the grotorials and I love em! I really like the rigging ones like a few others have mentioned in that thread.

Its great having basic rigging tutorials that are simple to follow then you can apply them to your own complex models.

I'm working on a "make good" tutorial right now but I think its going to take me about 2-4 years before I finish the first draft.
