| Help with placing a mesh on a skeleton (bones) |
El Explosivo |
I have a mesh that I want to fit properly and snugly onto a skeleton. I'm fairly new to 3ds and I just wanted to know if there is an easy way to go about doing this?
Does 3ds have a feature that will help me streamline the process or do I have to manually position, scale, and move each polygons myself? I would really appreciate any help on this matter.

You would do it the other way around. You make the skeleton fit the mesh.

The skeleton itself is imported from a game. I want to place a custom armor into this game. If I change the position of the skeleton around to fit the armor, wouldn't that mess up the animation for this model when I export the mesh and skeleton back into the game?

Well then drag the armor over the skeleton =)

Thanks for the response guys, but what I really just want to know is does 3ds have an easy way to fit this mesh onto the skeleton? A feature of some sorts perhaps or do I have to align, position, move, and scale the mesh myself?
Bear in mind, I referring to adjusting the mesh to fit the skeleton, not the other way around.

Well... You could clone the skeleton already there, and modify that skeleton to fit to your mesh. Then bind it to the mesh, and pose your model to fit the original skeleton.. Then delete the cloned skeleton, and finally attach the original skeleton.
If your goal is to attach that skeleton to your mesh without messing it up. Whether or not this actually does work I don't know. =P
If it's just an armor I don't see why you have to skin it again. Why not just attach it to the character?
