that looks good for your first kitchen mate. Not sure about he weird sunlight on the right hand unit lights look cool. Keep going and detail it up, the sunlight needs attention.
" Difficult, yes. Impossible , no..."

It wont matter if the light is invisible for reflections/specular etc, youd have to turn those off seperate. Invisible just means the camera cant see the light itself.

Going good for the first attempt.
I don't know what the left is, but you need a completely closed room. With basic openings as Windows. Unless you want to do a studio light project.
Then setup the scene first, what I did when I started was, give a basic default near-to-white material to the scene and setup lights. It's very affective way to get good light. I still do that in many of my scenes.
Once you are happy with the light start materials and textures. Finally you might have to tweak the light a bit.
Presently, the room looks very bright and plain (not as in empty) but everything looks similar.
Try having a look at kitchen photographs and renderings for inspiration. Train your eye (I am still trying to) to see the light and what it does.

can someone tell me why when using irradence as primary gi engine it takes 45 days to render this scene.
i did have the settings as primary gi engine irradence map secondery gi engine light cache
but now for some reason its gone from 10 mins to 5 days and now im having to use light cache for both primary and secondery and which you can tell it dont look so good.
