Help me, please! (Displacement error)

Hi!

Some years ago, i still like to remember the moment, i made a post to this very forum asking about way to find small job for summer. I also remember the the answer i loved. :D You told me something like: "ur 17 and it is summer !!! you do want a job, go out, have a life"

Today, i got to admit that u guys were correct!

The 3-year old idea about summer job somehow rippled to a phone call that i received some days ago and it was all about this small job.


The essence of this small job is to produce some images about 3D model that i created from dwg files. the quality req-s are not high, actually i believe the view-port screenshot could do the work but I like the idea to do my best and do it fast.

My touch is not as good and i the software crashes often. many times i lost 1+ of work to a some kind of 3Ds max disappearing.

The problem

The big building from dwg files are covered with planks, liked the idea to do the material by using displacement map.

The problem is that my poorly modeled mesh is not good with displacement. During render it produces somekind of visual error similar to vertices corruption. I worked on this mesh accuracy for some time, i do not like the idea to redo it.

Iv added some screenshots and 1 render to describe the problem.

I like to believe that solution for this problem isn't complicated for You, experienced max users.

I can't see any reason to use displacement looking at your images. Also it's expensive so that's probably why you, the software, crashes often.

Anyway, try mapping and lighting it propperly before going into fancy displacements and dof's.
