Help converting Solidworks to MAX?
show user profile  Dr. Jim
I got some .SLDPRT and .STEP and .SLDDRW files from a client who knows nothing.

From what I gather they are solidworks files.....

Any easy way to get them into MAX without buying a converter?

Anyone out there want to convert them for me??

best way is to convert them into stl. but then you get stl files as many parts in the solidworks assembly.
a have a script from someone here in the forum (cant remember from who...) that can imports them into max pretty easily.
if dd cant help you mail it to me. my a solid guy

when you save as stl in solid works you can click on options in the save as dialogue and click on export assembly as one part.

As TP guided, if we save as .stl file in SolidWorks and set Option by checking Box: Save all components of an assembly in a single file. So we get only one part.In this case we lost all parts which were assembly before.

We can save as .IGES file from SolidWorks. So our assembly is kept and we get only one file .IGES and we can open it in 3DsMAX so easily.
