HDRI search & pricing.....
show user profile  FX
I'm looking for decent *affordable* HDRI's with back-plates, preferably of Australian farm/rural-scape, bonus would be with sheep, cattle and topless ladies in the shot.
I found some at bearstock.com and am waiting on a quote, I'm assuming I can't afford them as I need to ask for a quote...

...meanwhile I tripped over this site in my search....

http://www.maground.com/Maground/home.htm

...can someone confirm there's an error on the site and the decimal point has moved too far to the right ?

Holy bejeezuz batman, I've just been quoted for one HDRI and backplates from bearstock...need to remortgage the house.

edit: Ok, naive question...why are these things so damn expensive ?

Try these free sites, you might get a lucky one that shows what you need:

cheers mike...bookmarked....

I tried hdrmaps.com a while ago, none of the field hdr's have backplates.

I managed to find an airfield that could pass as a farm, it's just to showcase the "backplate" technique to a client, he currently wants his product on white backgrounds, need to show him how cool it can look:)

Never give them more than they ask for, the pay will be the same and they'll start asking for your "special touch" on all future products. More work, same pay = lose-lose.

Special touch comes at a price...just sorted that out with him yesterday, I'm on an hourly rate now...just bored dude, concrete drinking troughs on white backgrounds...dull dull dull...:(

Ah, hourly rate. :) That's how I like to get paid. Sounds like you're onto a winner with your client. Tell him he needs some birds in the background flying away and charge extra; can just use Debris Maker 2, will take 2 minutes to do.

This client was the "endless revisions"type, I put my foot down yesterday and sent a ranty email, seemed to do the trick, I now bill him in post for "work done".

They're drinking troughs full of water , I'm itching to put a rubber duck in one, or some fish and animate them, a guy surfing, anything to break the monotony...28 scenes...all concrete tubs :(

So I'm going to liven it up with a backplate....as an extra of course....;)

For the record, if your wanting these HDRI's... go for bearstock, I got quotes from both and bearstock are half the price of maground for full rights.
