HDRI Maps
show user profile  Landia
Anyone know website where I can get free HDRI maps for outside and inside?

Also, what is the difference between HDRI and HDR maps? I know HDRI can be in jpeg images. But I am not sure what is HDR file?

Thanks for any advice!

SIBL have great free hdr's. http://www.hdrlabs.com/sibl/archive.html

I would recommend buying vizpeople pack's they are top notch.

Never heard of HDR jpgs, as I was under the impression they are 8bit files. .hdr and .exr are 32bit which contain the high dynamic range.

JPG can not be HDR, it hasn't got the bits.

Some useful ones here:

I found this website with free maps but when I downloaded the set, it did not download correctly. Not sure why it did not download correctly???
http://www.hdr-sets.com/index.php/free-sets.html

You have to register with them and go through a checkout but the set cost $0. It does not ask you for credit card information. Once you fill out some information and check out, you get the Download link. It does seem to start download but the download Failed for some odd reasons.
