6 weeks, 1 bloke, 2 crappy computers. Its not pixar and I know that people will be extremely quick to judge the lighting, render quality, rigging, animation, texturing.. etc.. but the band loves it. They got it on time and the fans are going wild over it.




Let the wholesale ripping my work to bits begin......

Is this the same Hawklords made up from people that used to be in Hawkwind?
I used to like Hawkwind, with their lasers and lightshows and...then I came down...bummer!

Hi KRbendel, yes it is one and the same..

This video, even though the quality of the render is lack lustre,( given that I had just 6 weeks from start to finish to concept, design, rig, animate, texture, render and edit the thing on my todd..) has been pandered around some very high profile people in London.

The one thing that bothers me most about the video is not the content and the way its been directed, but the render quality. If I had been allowed until Christmas to complete this project, the quality of the footage would be infinitely higher, but I guess this is the nature of the industry.

When I am playing between projects, I have the luxury of learning to get the best from a render and I can afford to leave a 600 frame animation going for 3 days solid.

When there is a deadline, all sorts of sacrifice need to be made.

I did the best I could with the resources I had to hand .

Oh well, it's not fun when you have to sacrifice quality because of time being squeezed. Do you have some work where you didn't have to sacrifice quality we can see rather than this lesser example of your work?

Guess who.. - Probably about my third go with Zbrush. I haven't gone back to it yet because the GUI was written by a hermit who had obviously had zero contact with the real world for 40 years while he designed Zbrush..

The song sucks if I'm being frank.

Sounds like something put together by a high school band, not seasoned pros.

Still it paid I assume so that's all that counts.

I quite like the track, but I did spend 6 weeks listening to it back to back.

Yea the job paid, but next time I will have to ensure that the timescales allow for decent render times.

Still lots to learn about Vray but I am happy with this model.

I didn't mean to be totally condescending (maybe a bit), more that I do have plenty of experience and so I think my knowledge is valid..

I just think it's a bit odd for anyone to post work, which doesn't think reflect your skills fully and have to make lots of excuses about it even before anyway replies!

Client happy, good job, learning, good job. No worries.

Hi Reeves.. yea, I am a bit insecure about my work. I know the level of CGI that most of the regulars on this forum post is waaay beyond my current skill set and I have great respect for your undoubted experience.

The coins picture above is about the best that I have rendered for realism.
What do you think of it?
