By far one of the greatest engineering achievements humanity could muster. It was fantastic to see the updates live and the emotional cheering coming from the control center was very touching.

I am so pleased it landed. I've been following this, Opportunity, Spirit and Sojourner from day one.
Let's hope it's working as expected. We should get some amazing data back.

Anyone else here got their name onboard this Mars rover too?

too?
so you have your name on this rover and others nik?
(personally i'd have avoided that as you'll be the ones the moon people come for when the mars rover lands and flattens some aliens garden gnome and they want revenge)

Yup. my name's on both Rovers, this new one, Cassini, that comet chasing one who's name escapes me and a few other things floating around the solar system. I've been a NASA nerd for decades.

I know it's a risk, the aliens will have a list of people they want to gang-probe, but it's a calculated risk :)

I'm surprised this isn't in poll form either.

I don't get it, we can afford to send robots to the moon but I can't get double glazed windows?

mars not the moon but whatever.

we can't afford not to establish self supporting human colonies on viable offworld locations - the moon & mars being two prime candidates. it is required to protect against extinction events down here. it's a key component of our species survival plan.

on the other hand, no-one gives a shit about your double glazing. hope that makes sense.

I believe... "whoosh" is what the kids would say at this point.

Obviously the Mars landing is awesome.
