This is my techneque for modelling hands. I kinda used my hand for a reference. but I wanted it slightly alien looking.

Nice :) Thumb looks kinda short for some reason.

Can you show us an unsmoothed wireframe?

Hands are always difficult to model. Yes, the thumb is too short, also the fingers are too smooth. I know women have beautiful fingers that taper smoothly, but still there should be just a little more "knobbyness" at the joints. The joints should be a little bit wider, and the knuckles a little more defined. Unless, of course, you want the alien look, in which case I'd say make the fingers longer. That should look a bit creepy.
You also put a nice crease around the fingernails, how about putting some wrinkles on top of the joints. Look at your fingers from the top, notice the wrinkles above the joints? Or maybe you'll do that as a texture?

Nicely done :) I like your topology.

One thing I'd do is terminate every other edge loop that goes up the wrist, the same way you terminated the ones coming from the fingers.
As it is now, there are too many edges for the arm.

lol I thought the same... if the model looks creepy, just say "I wanted it slightly alien looking"... heheheh.

Anyway, do something about the fingertips. There is a fleshy part which is soft and a bit... fleshy... at the fingertips. Your hand has almost conical fingers that taper almost perfectly. Real fingers don't taper that much. Look at your own fingers - I've seen them! (You posted a picture of your hands in handcuffs). Your fingers aren't like these, they are more fleshy. Don't overdo it, but at least give it a hint.
