Hair & Fur NOT visible behind objects with opacity
show user profile  Dr. Jim
OKay...that about says it.

Say you have some plants or such with opacity mapped leaves.
Now behind those there is some tall grass (using Hair/Fur).
You cannot see the grass where the opacity maps are in front of them.
You get the leaf, then a black box (defining the plane the leaf is mapped on) over the grass!

any ideas?

OK,...well the answer is to set the hairs to 'geometry' in the Render Effect rollout. The default is 'buffer'.
While this is great in theory, is now crashing on me giving me memory errors.
It does say in the Ref, that this method is extremely memory intensive.

At the moment,...looks like I will render passes and comp.

I've been thinking about going back to dark. I used to have it for quite a while... don't remember why I ever switched back.

personally i think a non-dark ui strains the eyes, interferes with what you do in the views and is basically a bad idea

think about these art-exhibitions where they place a well lit statue or other object in a dark room so the viewing experience is optimal and non-distractive
