Growing geometry from polygons
I am working on a model of a lavender sprig, and its pretty much finished now. I just had a question for future reference. Its fairly tedious keep extruding buds and flowers from polygons on the 'stem'. I am guessing a pro would not be doing each one by one. Is there a more efficient way of doing this? I was thinking maybe a feature to grow a preset poly model (the flower) from a root polygon (on the stem)? I am aware of the extrude along spline function but it doesn't seem to really lend itself to this. Would be interested to hear what you think.

it's not organics but this script came to mind
if you have a repeatable process for growing a section you could probably script it somehow.

Thats exactly the kind of thing. Ok will have a look. Not really done any reading on writing scripts so maybe should look into that. Many thanks

I only skimmed your reply, because the coffee hasn't kicked in but is this what you're after:

Many thanks for your help. I didn't realise such a button existed - never having strayed that far from the poly modelling bit in the graphite tools. Kind of what I am after, although it seems to just grow polygons the same profile as the base - from the base. I was trying to get at a tool which would sprout a present polygon model from the base polygon - although I may be wrong?. Having said that this will save a good deal of time in future - and seems much more intuitive then extrude along spline.

Ah, okay... well the Graphite bar also has an "Object Paint" bit that might interest you, I believe you can select a bunch of objects to paint
, but if you've just got the one you can play with their scale afterwards.
There is undoubtedly a script out there that will scale the "painted" object as you drag, I've used one before but would be unable to find it again.
Oh, forgot to mention... the new objects are all instances... which makes alterations easy:

Thats perfect. Yeah exactly what I was looking for. Drop them all on and then cut the quads in afterwards. Ideal. Many thanks. Problem solved.
