/me points at the stretched texture in a very un-christmas-spirit like fashion.

on the train cabin? yeah that's not actually stretched although it does look it, its a separately mapped wood bump texture and i made the bump a little high there so its pretty noticeable, ah well, thanks for pointing it out :p

Very nice work.
Wouldnt mind giving something a bash myself, so can i ask, see the beads on the spline, is that a case of using the spacing tool?

Grotey, im falling at the first hurdle, can you tell me where i make a p-flow object. Ive tried a few things and looked on help but with no joy so far.
One i thought it was, was p-flow source, but didnt seem to do what i expected.

yeah its the pf source object (or whatever its called), drag one of those out in the viewport then click the big button in the modify panel to open the pflow window

One thing I realised after making that tut is that you can just give the single tinsel strip some noise before hand and then you can skip the last two parts of the tut. I thought of amending it but then that wont teach people about the mesher compound object which turns a particle system into a mesh, and that is pretty useful for other things.
[edit] forgot to say thanks dub! :)

Great stuff just got it working, cheers for that.
First time even looking at the particle side of things but probably need to lend it some more time soon.

Bumping an old one here!
This is a simple question but i have googled and struggled so i came back here; how do i....."3. Create a pfsource particle object and make the spline object the emitter and the plane the particle type."

zombie thread!
In the pflow window replace the 'postion' event with a 'position object' event and add the converted spline to it, then replace the 'shape' event with a 'shape instance' event and add the plane to it. ;) good luck
