gravity

I usually wince when someone starts a review saying the CGI is amazing (Avatar, 2013. Spring to mind, Didn't like either or them) but I finally watched Gravity and it did blow me away.

Whether it is a great movie is another question, If you compare it to Apollo 13 for example, but it is certainly very, very impressive and entertaining.

Anyway some of you guys are a little closer to this and just wondered what your thoughts are about it?

Was good. Definitely a film that would benefit from drugs and alcohol; much like Stanley Krubrick's 2001. Remember one reviewer originally gave it 2 stars then, after his friend convinced him, took LSD and watched it again and gave it 10 stars.

I was not sober when I watched it and enjoyed it a lot. The effects really suck you in with the slow zooms and stuff.

I thought it was great.. Really got me thinking about space and stuff again, and seems to have come hand in hand with a general emergence of renewed popular interest in the subject. The very end i thought was amazing as well, without spoiling for anyone, the very last sequence.

Have a sneaking suspicion weed would work too. And it's not an excuse for taking LSD, it's like a date; something fun to do when you go for your trip, like going to the local water slides.

I'm 10 minutes in and I'm being distracted by this guy...it's annoying, stunning graphics but Clooneys voice and character is bugging the hell out of me.

@FX

I'm glad I didn't spot that comparison. It would have totally ruined it for me.

But do you think I'll ever get a job at Pixar? That's one of my goals in life.

Critics: "Story shit..."
Me: eh, 50/50; but the experience was great.

And that was all I wanted from it, I'd already read all the complaints, knew all the twists, the only scene that really threw me was the howling. Not many crits against that scene, which I thought was shit. But I haven't read anyone mention what the director was trying to do besides provide light humor and show she's going nuts... so here's my take: There's a round window showing the earth, sandra's illuminated and the rest of the scene is black; she starts howling and I swear the director tried to make it look like the round window was the moon and she was howling at it, like the exact reverse of a wolf howling up at the moon. Pretty gay, if you ask me.

But fuck all that, what about Wolf of Wall Street? What a film.

I quit watching 10 minute's in, downloading a 1080p version instead for the eye candy, too early to comment, but that *was* Buzz Lightyear zooming around the shuttle in the opening scene....their will be parodie's :)

Wrong choice of actor's imho, and it kicked off far too soon. hope theres more to redress the balance, I'm going to buy a 10 bag and try again.

I couldn't watch it, the cg was great and I got a 1080p copy to watch, but couldn't get through it, the story is boring as hell, and i wasn't a fan of their actor choices :(
