show user profile  Defcom
Hi not sure to go with AMD or Nividia for graphics, i mostly use mental ray and vray for rendering and am interested in red shift also, any help would be great does MR and Vray utilise the AMD card to the full as AMD doesnt have CUDA.

thanks

I'd go with Nvidia both as personal preference and as you stated, Nvidia has CUDA cores. GTX should suffice. Pascal architecture is going to be a good bet for you due to the massive performance gains.

1080 GTX isn't crazy expensive.

Vulkan APU looks promising and it works better on AMD GPUs. Though I'm not sure if real time renderers are taking a benefit from it.

ok thanks guys, so here the situation

GTX-1080 CUDA-2560 Ram 8 gigs Price €818

GTX-1070 CUDA-1920 Ram 8 gigs Price €374

GTX-1060 CUDA-1280 Ram 6 gigs Price €282

GTX-970 CUDA-1661 Ram 4 gigs Price €236

I would like a GTX-1080 but i could go with 2 GTX-1070 in SLI i would then have 3840 CUDA cores and 16 gigs of vram, plus it would only be €748 and still have Pascal architecture.

anyone any experiance ?
