keeping a gradient ramp in one place after bending a mesh object

I created a long box with lots of segments so I could bend it to a semi circle 350 degrees.

I first assigned a multi-sub object map to a selected face of a mash. All went well with the 'fading end of the long box from 100% opacity to zero, for the fade to invisibility.

When I went to bend the box the sub-object opacity map moved up the box which I can't figure out how to make it stay in place.

Can someone tell me how to keep the gradient ramp toward the end of the box?

I changed the percentage so as to create a more dramatic effect wit duh gradient moving down the line/box, forgive me will yuh?
